Overview:
Entech Staffing is seeking a
Financial Aid Specialist to support a local educational institution in Flint, MI. This is a full-time, temporary contract role focused on student financial aid processing, verification, and compliance with federal and institutional policies.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Aid Verification & Packaging (Title IV: Pell Grants, Direct Loans, SEOG, Work Study):

  • Use federal, state, and institutional systems to determine aid eligibility (packaging/needs analysis).

  • Review and verify financial aid documents, including tax returns, transcripts, and verification forms.

  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies; request additional documentation as needed.

  • Communicate with students and parents to clarify or correct conflicting information.

  • Ensure accurate awarding based on grade level and borrowing history.

  • Troubleshoot issues related to awards, defaults, student/lender concerns, etc.

  • Process Financial Aid Change Forms and track pending file corrections.

  • Manually calculate or repackage aid when auto-packaging is unavailable.

2. Consortium Program Support:

  • Monitor student enrollment, attendance, and grade submission in consortium programs.

  • Ensure aid is processed appropriately at the home institution and students are not dropped for non-payment.

3. Regulatory Monitoring:

  • Review Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) reports to ensure compliance with the 600% Pell Grant cap.

  • Adjust aid packages accordingly.

4. Liaison Duties:

  • Serve as a point of contact for TRIO (SSS) and Perkins program coordinators regarding awards.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate Degree

  • 1–3 years of experience in financial aid or related fields (finance, mortgage, retail management, etc.)

  • Ability to interpret regulations, procedures, and professional publications

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills (basic algebra required)

  • Must pass a drug test and criminal background check prior to hire

Preferred:

  • Experience administering Title IV funds

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including report creation

  • Background in audit or analytical work paper preparation

  • Experience with income tax preparation and understanding of tax code
