Job Title: Labor Compliance Specialist

Location: Detroit (Hybrid Schedule: In-office Tuesday–Thursday)

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Prevailing Wage Compliance Specialist to oversee and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws and regulations. This role is responsible for managing wage determinations, reviewing certified payrolls, conducting audits, and serving as a liaison between contractors, government agencies, and internal departments. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of labor compliance, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding fair labor standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor prevailing wage compliance for projects under the Prevailing Wage Act (PWA) and Davis-Bacon Act.

  • Interpret and apply the Davis-Bacon Act, Service Contract Act, and state/local prevailing wage laws.

  • Review and verify certified payroll reports for accuracy and compliance.

  • Conduct internal and external audits of payroll records and labor classifications.

  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams and external contractors on prevailing wage requirements.

  • Collaborate with project managers, legal, and external stakeholders to resolve compliance issues.

  • Ensure timely and accurate wage determinations and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in labor compliance, payroll administration, or contract management.

  • Experience with public works or government contracting is preferred.

  • Knowledge of organized labor agreements, union labor practices, and fringe benefit administration.

  • Preferred: MBA, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), and experience using LCPtracker, Elation Systems, or similar compliance platforms.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to occasionally travel to job sites and work extended hours as needed.

Work Schedule:

  • Hybrid schedule with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday.

  • Occasional travel and extended hours may be required based on project needs.
