Mechanical Assembler

Location: Pontiac, MI

Job Type: Full-time 40 hours, may work OT.

Salary: $17.50/hr.

Hours: 6am-2:30pm, or 4:30pm.

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Assembler to join our production team in Pontiac, MI. The Mechanical Assembler will be responsible for accurately assembling mechanical components and sub-assemblies into finished products according to specifications, blueprints, and work instructions. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with hand and power tools, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and other technical documentation to determine assembly procedures.

  • Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components, parts, and sub-assemblies using hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment.

  • Position and align parts, manually or with hoists, ensuring proper fit and alignment.

  • Attach and fasten parts together using various methods (e.g., bolting, riveting, welding, adhesives).

  • Perform routine quality checks and inspections on assembled products to ensure they meet company and industry standards.

  • Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, making necessary adjustments or repairs.

  • Operate and maintain assembly equipment and tools, ensuring they are in proper working order.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety procedures and protocols.

  • Accurately complete production and quality forms, documenting all actions and inspection results.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to streamline assembly processes and improve productivity.

  • Assist with other production tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Proven mechanical aptitude and ability to understand complex mechanical systems.

  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers) and power tools (e.g., drills, pneumatic tools).

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions accurately.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to stand, lift, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. (Ability to lift up to [50] lbs. may be required).

  • Knowledge of safety practices in a manufacturing environment.

  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and documentation.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with specific equipment or systems (e.g., robotics, specific machinery).

  • Experience with quality control processes.
