Pay: $18.50/hr
Shift: 3rd Shift | 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Location: Warren, MI
Overtime: Extensive overtime available (and expected)

Job Overview

We’re hiring an experienced Steel Treating Operator to join a fast-paced steel processing / heat treating facility. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in coil processing, draw block operation, overhead crane use, and forklift (Hi-Lo) operation. If you’ve worked in steel treating, wire drawing, metal processing, or manufacturing environments, this is a great long-term opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, locate, and verify steel coils and coil rod material

  • Load and unload draw block machines using a fork truck (Hi-Lo) and overhead crane

  • Operate swaging (pointer) machines to prepare coils for the drawing process

  • Run draw block equipment to reduce coil rod steel to customer specifications

  • Measure finished product using micrometers to verify diameter and tolerances

  • Operate hydraulic manco cutters to remove coil ends

  • Perform steel coil banding, re-banding, and tagging

  • Enter production and cycle data into the computer system

  • Assist with material movement throughout the facility

  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in the shop

Required Experience & Skills

  • Prior experience in steel treating, heat treating, wire drawing, or coil processing

  • Forklift / Hi-Lo experience (license preferred)

  • Overhead crane experience (training or certification a plus)

  • Experience using micrometers and measuring tools

  • Comfortable working overnight shift with heavy overtime

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Basic computer/data entry skills

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
