Strategist

Location: Waterford, MI (Waterford Service Center) – Hybrid

This is a long term contract opportunity.

Position Summary

As a Strategist in Strategy and Reporting, you will bridge the gap between complex data and actionable business insights. You will be responsible for leading the lifecycle of Tableau and Business Warehouse (BW) projects—from establishing scope and querying data to designing sophisticated visualizations that tell a compelling story.

This role is ideal for a data-driven leader who can partner with field leadership to translate operational data into financial insights, manage budgets, and ensure that our IT strategies align with long-term organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Visualization & Storytelling: Produce high-impact dashboards using guided analytics and interactive design best practices to convey the “story”within the data.

• Data Engineering: Perform data mapping, extraction, and transformation to support automated weekly reporting, scorecards, and dashboards.

• Project Leadership: Manage small-to-medium projects through the full lifecycle, coordinating resources, timetables, and cross-functional work groups.

• Financial Stewardship: Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, and analyzing variances to initiate corrective actions.

• Strategic Consulting: Partner with IT and stakeholders to develop business cases, recommend technology strategies, and evaluate organizational outcomes to anticipate future requirements.

• Quality Assurance: Verify application results through system audits and maintain high service quality by enforcing organizational standards.

• Communication: Act as a primary liaison for internal customers, delivering formal presentations and status reports on project trends and milestones.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related discipline.

• Experience: 4+ years in an IT organization, including at least 1 year of experience as an IT Project Manager specifically focused on Tableau Dashboard design or software implementation.

• Technical Expertise: Proven experience with Tableau (calculations, performance troubleshooting, and complex data sets) and SAP (R/3, BW).

Technical Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in Tableau, Excel, and SQL/Data Querying.

• Experience with SAP BW and/or Maximo data extraction.

• Proficiency in Project Management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

• Ability to identify and close data quality gaps through custom extraction programs.
