Facilities & Maintenance Technician

Are you a “jack-of-all-trades”who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Technician to join a team in Macomb, MI. This role is the backbone of their operations, ensuring both production machinery and physical building stay in peak condition.

Shift Details

  • Standard Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

  • Weekends: Up to 8 hours (typically 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM) as needed based on production demands.

  • Pay rate: $20-24/hr.

Core Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will involve a mix of facility upkeep, machinery support, and team coordination:

  • General Facility Upkeep: Perform minor plumbing repairs, lighting replacements, painting, furniture assembly, and general “handyman”tasks.

  • Equipment Support: Assist with Preventative Maintenance (PM) on production equipment, floor scrubbers, forklifts, and conveyors.

  • Fluid Management: Act as the alternate Coolant Technician to ensure machinery remains operational.

  • Team Leadership: Prioritize tasks for, direct, and train janitorial staff; manage inventory for cleaning supplies.

  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce recycling requirements, follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and adhere to environmental protocols (spill response, labeling, etc.).

  • Operational Support: Assist Shipping and Receiving as needed and maintain the organization/cleanliness of the parking lot.

  • Equipment Operation: Daily operation of forklifts (including Hyster models) and aerial lifts.

What We’re Looking For

We need someone proactive who can work independently and spot a problem before it becomes a breakdown.

Required Proficiency:

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong experience in facility maintenance (plumbing, heating/cooling, and general repairs).

  • Electrical Knowledge: Basic to intermediate electrical experience is highly desired.

  • Tool Savvy: Proficient in the use of tool room equipment and various hand/power tools.

  • Safety Minded: Strict adherence to Housekeeping, Safety, and Quality/Environmental systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • State Certified Industrial Storm Water Operator experience is a significant plus.

  • A “continuous improvement”mindset—always looking for ways to boost safety, productivity, and quality.
