Sign Assembler / Finish Carpenter (2nd Shift)

Location: Madison Heights

Shift: 2nd Shift

Pay Rate: $18.00 – $19.00 / hour

Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking three skilled and detail-oriented Sign Assemblers to join our client’s 2nd-shift production team. If you have a background in finish carpentry, custom woodworking, or high-end sign assembly, you’ll fit right in.

Note: This is not an automotive or high-volume assembly line environment. We are looking for craftspeople who understand how different materials behave and who take pride in the structural integrity of their work.

What You Will Do

While all three positions require strong hands-on fabrication skills, one of these three openings will be dedicated specifically to assembling high-volume grocery store aisle directories.

General Sign Assembly Duties:

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to fabricate, fit, and finish custom signage.

  • Work with diverse materials including plastics, acrylics, wood, metals, and composites.

  • Read and interpret basic shop drawings or assembly instructions to ensure precise builds.

Aisle Directory Specialist Duties:

  • Focus primarily on the high-speed assembly of grocery store aisle directories.

  • Use pneumatic staple guns, specialized hardware, and plastic spacers to precisely attach rail and tracking panels.

  • Meet daily production quotas while maintaining a strict eye for quality and alignment.

  • Excel in a repetitive, fast-paced workflow where speed and a sense of urgency are critical.

What We Are Looking For

  • Tool Expertise: Proven experience using various hand and power tools (routers, drills, saws, pneumatic staplers/nailers). A finish carpentry or custom fabrication background is highly preferred.

  • Material Knowledge: Strong familiarity with how different materials (plastics, wood, metals) interact during fastening and assembly.

  • The Right Pace: Ability to balance speed with precision. You must be driven by daily quotas without sacrificing the quality of the final product.

  • Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for alignment, spacing, and structural soundness.

  • Reliability: Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic to support our 2nd-shift team.

Preferred Experience: Prior experience in the sign manufacturing industry is a massive plus. Please note: Candidates whose experience is strictly limited to automotive assembly lines or basic conveyor-belt manufacturing will not be a match for the custom nature of this role.

Why Join Us?

  • Stable, consistent 2nd-shift hours.

  • Competitive starting pay ($18-19/hr depending on experience).

  • A clean, collaborative shop environment where craftsmanship is valued.
