Manufacturing Process Engineer
Location: Canton, MI
Are you a driven engineer with a passion for optimizing manufacturing processes? We’re looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our production plant in Canton, MI. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our technical processes, from troubleshooting to continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do:
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our production operations, responsible for:

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve issues with new or existing products related to design, materials, or manufacturing processes.

Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to manufacturing processes or products to boost quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. You’ll apply methodologies like lean manufacturing to achieve these goals.

Technical Expertise: Provide essential technical support and guidance for all manufacturing-related activities.

Design and Analysis: Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness, and determine root causes of failures using statistical procedures, recommending design or process changes as needed.

Documentation and Communication: Prepare detailed documentation for new manufacturing processes and engineering procedures. You’ll also communicate vital information about manufacturing capabilities and production schedules to facilitate efficient production.

Supervision and Training: Supervise technical staff and train production personnel on new or existing methods.

Equipment Management: Design, install, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, and evaluate manufactured products against specifications and quality standards.

Resource Management: Estimate costs, production times, and staffing needs for new designs, and assist with purchasing equipment, materials, and parts.
What We’re Looking For:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred).

Experience: 2-5 years of experience supporting automation equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills:

Spare parts experience
-
Perishable tooling experience
-
Part quality control & gauging
-
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

Print reading experience
-
FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) experience

Soft Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.

Language: Excellent English language skills to convey complex technical ideas and concepts clearly.

Bonus Points: Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001 and/or other management systems is a plus.
