Facilities Project Manager ( Project Engineer)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Facilities Capital Projects Manager ( Project Engineer) to lead the planning, design, and execution of high-impact construction and building systems projects. In this role, you will oversee the full project lifecycle to maximize the value, reliability, and performance of our facility assets.

As a key technical and operational leader, you will direct project delivery across internal engineering teams, external consulting firms, and design-build contractors. This position is ideal for a proactive leader who excels at bridging technical engineering solutions with financial management, contractor oversight, and cross-functional team leadership in a hybrid working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Execution: Direct the design, engineering, and construction of facility infrastructure and capital improvement projects from initial concept through closeout.

  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage procurement, negotiate vendor/contractor scopes, and oversee on-site construction activities to guarantee quality workmanship, safety compliance, and schedule adherence.

  • Budget & Schedule Control: Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets, resource allocation, and detailed schedules while driving cost efficiency and operational excellence.

  • Design & Technical Direction: Coordinate internal construction trades and external design consultants to develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions tailored to organizational needs.

  • Risk Mitigation & Compliance: Proactively identify project risks, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, facility operations, contractors, and executive leadership to ensure project deliverables align with overall business objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Proven track record leading capital improvement, facility infrastructure, or construction projects from inception to completion.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural), construction management methodologies, and applicable building/safety codes.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong background in capital budgeting, cost control, procurement, and contract administration.

  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams, external contractors, and senior stakeholders effectively.
