Production Quality Lead – Signage, Graphics & Fabrication Manufacturing
Pay Rate: $28.00 – $36.00 / hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift (Standard first-shift hours, subject to production demand)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Quality Lead to oversee quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives across our signage, graphics, and fabrication manufacturing operations. Reporting directly to the VP of Manufacturing, this role is responsible for setting and maintaining high quality standards across printing, CNC routing, fabrication, paint, millwork, assembly, and installation.
The ideal candidate brings deep material and process knowledge from the signage or custom fabrication industry, along with a track record of reducing rework, building scalable quality systems, and mentoring production teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection: Inspect incoming raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished products against project specs and quality benchmarks.

System Development: Draft, maintain, and update quality control procedures, work instructions, inspection checklists, and SOPs.

KPIs & Reporting: Establish measurable quality metrics, maintain electronic records/audits, and report performance dashboards to leadership.

Root Cause & Prevention: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) on defects, implementing immediate corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.

Continuous Improvement: Partner with production leadership to reduce scrap, rework, and inefficiencies using Lean principles across all shop departments.

Team Training: Train and benchmark production personnel on quality standards, inspection methods, and manufacturing best practices.

Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate daily with Design, Project Management, Production, and Installation teams to ensure seamless execution.
Qualifications:
Required:

Industry Experience: Proven background in sign manufacturing, large-format graphics, commercial printing, custom fabrication, millwork, or exhibit manufacturing.

Technical Knowledge: Hands-on familiarity with large-format printers, CNC routers, paint systems, custom fabrication equipment, and substrates.

Quality Leadership: Demonstrated experience driving manufacturing quality control, process improvement, or quality engineering.

Document Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret production drawings, construction blueprints, and technical specifications.

Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and electronic documentation/ERP systems.

Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with sound judgment and decision-making capabilities under tight deadlines.
Preferred:

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies.

Knowledge of color management, specialized substrates, and field installation requirements.

Experience creating SOPs, building quality audit frameworks, and setting baseline performance benchmarks.
